History

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that is considered the most effective and complete art of self-defense.  It is predominantly a ground fighting art where the strategy is to avoid punches and kicks while attempting to clinch the opponent and take them to the ground where their striking strategies are weakened and then applying jiu-jitsu techniques to submit the opponent.  The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques are based on leverage, making it possible for the practitioner to beat stronger and heavier opponents.  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an art where you can apply its submission techniques whether you are on the top or bottom of your opponent.  Today it has gained widespread popularity throughout the world and it is one of the leading martial arts of self defense.
